The tenets of Drintera are:

  • Multicultural: We honor and draw inspiration from diverse real-world cultures.

  • Heroic mythology: Player characters are encouraged to embody heroic ideals. Monsters and magic follow the dream logic of myth and legend.

  • Deep lore: Our freelancers are history, folklore, anthropology, and science geeks. They create deep lore that's fun to read.

  • A Canvas for Creativity: Our aim is to light the fire of creativity. We want to make it fun and easy for a GM to build a campaign in Drintera.

  • Youth friendly: Adults can run games for youth without feeling embarrassed. Drintera is not for youth only. It's simply not for adults only.

  • System agnostic: Drintera is a narrative toolbox. It's about plots, characters, and lore. You can adapt that lore to any fantasy RPG rule system you wish to use.

Drintera is published as a monthly PDF magazine. World-building is a big project that has to be done incrementally. Each issue contains at least 15 pages of lore, factions, and/or adventure locations and two original fantasy illustrations. Portions of each issue are posted for free to our World Anvil wiki. Follow our Patreon for worldbuilding updates!

The magic of Drintera is driven by the dream logic of myth. Even the gods cannot command the ebb and flow of magic—but mortals' deeds can shape it. Drintera needs heroes and their quests. Of course a wicked king's realm becomes accursed and blighted. Of course a lost sacred relic can restore it.

The gods have proclaimed the Age of Destiny. Small bands of adventurers can, by wits and courage, work their way from smoky taverns up to royal halls and eventually earn honors from the gods themselves. Brave the poisoned and haunted tunnels beneath Red Pillar City to recover the key ingredient of the Elixir of Life. Seek ancient knowledge in lost cities of the Ruinlight Desert. Unlock the mystery of the forbidden Dreamers' Isles, or delve into the magma tunnels beneath the arctic Thrones of Ruin to parley with spirits of ice and fire.

The Age of Destiny has begun. Gather your band and stride forth to claim your place in legend!
